Tucked away down Chestnut Grove at Burton Joyce, The Nelson is a cozy and amiable, good old fashioned pub with a vibrant atmosphere and a great restaurant. Blending a country feel of wooden floors and terracotta tiles with stylish wall coverings, The Nelson combines a feeling of times gone by with informal modernity.
Seating arranged either in comfortable booths or at farmhouse tables, invites you to share a relaxed meal with friends or family. The Nelson is a delight in any season: Cold winter days accentuate the warmth and wholesomeness of traditional pub fayre whilst in summer the freshest of salads will refresh and revive. One of the joys of The Nelson is its Pizza Kitchen - a wholly authentic oven with some great choices to eat in or takeaway.
With a consistent approach to quality and customer service our restaurant has proved a firm favourite for special occasions such as St Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and Father's Day.
A carefully chosen list of wines from Europe and the new world will delight wine lovers - a large proportion of which are available by the glass.
The Lord Nelson occasionally hosts live music on a Friday or Saturday night and charity quizzes on a Sunday evening. Locals are very much involved in charity fund-raising events organised from time to time.
Children of all ages are very welcome in the restaurant however we do ask that they are supervised at all times and remain at your table whenever possible. Baby changing facilities are provided. In the summer moths children can enjoy the 'Life's a Beach' play area and mini football pitch.
You're likely to be rubbing shoulders with Friendly locals and walkers enjoying the nearby River Trent or cyclists taking advantage of the flat roads around and about. Although the bar area isn't huge it sits in a central position in the pub so you'll most likely always find some elbow room.
In the summer months crowds spill out into the extensive garden with outdoor seating. Planters full of herbs add to the fragrant atmosphere complimented by the lovely smell of the pizza kitchen at full tilt!
Local and National hand-pulled ales sit alongside continental lagers, ciders and a wide range of spirits and liqueurs with cocktails also available. It's a great stop-off point for a cup of tea or coffee if you're out and about enjoying the local countryside.
The area around Burton Joyce is very popular with walkers and cyclists. The Nelson is a stone's throw from the river trent and a path leads right by the pub and down to the river.
